Holiday Buying Guide for Digital Photography Lovers:
USB Flash Memory

Gift Wishlist

Have you ever had the need to quickly transport many photos to work and didn't have a blank CD-R or didn't want to use one on a single (but important) photo? In the past, the method of transport would be a 3 1/2" disk. Very few computers today even sport one of these relics. However, most PCs, macs, and even game consoles like the XBOX 360 have a USB port.

This little gem appears to the operating system as a removable hard disk. They come in many different capacities, and most are small enough to fit on a keychain (and even have a keychain hole). Sizes from 64MB to 1GB are common.

The process is fairly simple. You plug it into the USB port. Windows will let you know that it detected a storage device. It will assign it a drive letter that you will be able to find using the My Computer icon or windows explorer. Simply drag and drop files to it! This is a great gift to give as a stocking stuffer, and causes less tooth decay!
