Microsoft Group Shot - Part 2

Step 3: Deciding What to Keep and What to Scrap

The next step is to take a look at what you have and decide what you want to keep and what you want to get rid of from your final picture.  Do you like the expression on the faces of the people (or dog, in this case)?  Are there cars driving in the background in on photo, but not in another?  Once you make this decision, creating a composite with the best parts of each picture becomes easy.  I will stress, however, that the pictures need to be similar in content for this to work correctly.

Clicking on the tabs on top will allow you to quickly switch between the originals and the composite.

Step 4: Compositing

Group Shot makes compositing photos a great experience.  Select one of the original photos and draw a box around the part you want to make sure you keep.  Group Shot will do its best to get the interesting items into the final composite.

The first photo on the filmstrip is picked.  A box is drawn over the dog's face, because in this photo we have his eyes open.  Once the box has been drawn, we simply need to click "Add to Composite."

Now for the second photo (to get rid of that foreground bone).
